On that topic, California announced today that it will join a multi-state taskforce to investigate improperly reviewed and signed foreclosure documents. The Los Angeles Times reports that Ally Financial, Inc. and Wells Fargo are now admitting that they must look further into the way they foreclose on homes.
Meanwhile, Timothy Geithner indicated the Obama Administration will not support a moratorium on foreclosures. Geithner explained that he believes a moratorium would hurt real estate values because homes would sit empty longer.
“In neighborhoods that have been most affected by the foreclosure crisis, where you see lots of houses on the block empty, unoccupied, what it means is those communities would be living longer with houses unoccupied, with more pressure on their house price,” Geithner said."That comes from Bloomberg.
From that same article we learn, "lenders took possession of a record 95,364 homes in August and issued foreclosure filings to 338,836 homeowners, or one of every 381 U.S. households."
I'll post soon about the foreclosure crisis as it is affecting Ventura County cities. In the meantime, take a look at the new website.
